On Lot 10's Last Harrah

Earlier this week we said goodbye to On Lot 10, our friend David Lai's restaurant on Gough Street with a grand finale dinner here. Over the years we have had great memories at this place, with its casual bistro setting, showcasing the best food ingredients with classic, no-nonsense cooking style. Earlier when words came out that the restaurant finally succumb to the rising rent in the area and will be closing down at the end of January, we also felt obligated to come for one last time.

One Cheesy Evening at On Dining Kitchen

After a few messages being exchanged in one of the gourmet meetup group I was in, we managed to get a table at On Dining Kitchen and Lounge last Monday, with one and only one thing in our minds - Cheese!

Belated holiday recipe: Pecan Pie

With a Christmas Eve dinner to host at home and another party at a friend's place a few days later, I decided to bake a couple of pies for dessert, something I could prepare in advance. While many associated Christmas with panatone or stollen, it's more an American tradition (especially those from down south) to have pecan pie as part of the celebration meal (more so for Thanksgiving but also for Christmas too)

Tippling Club Singapore

Tippling Club in Singapore has been on my radar as restaurant to try for some time, but previously I have been put off by its rather remote location at Dempsey Hill, not exactly the easiest place to reach without a car. But with its recent move to a more central location (at the foot of the trendy Duxton Hill), time has come for me to check it out during my recent trip to the city a couple of weeks ago.

The Well-oiled Burnt Ends Singapore

Burnt Ends was constantly mentioned as a hot new Singapore restaurant in recent times and came highly recommended by a few of my friends, so I went to try on my second evening in town.

When Japanese meets French in Malaysia

We took a break from consecutive nights of partying with a quiet evening at Cilantro Restaurant and Wine Bar, not far away from the Golden Triangle district in Kuala Lumpur, inside a boutique hotel. The Japanese-born, French trained Chef Takashi Kimura has quite a reputation of his unique take of Franco-Japanese fusion cuisine at this compact restaurant featuring contemporary decor and quiet atmosphere. It's apparent most people came here on a date or special occasion, as many were quite dressed up, making us perhaps the odd ones out with rather casual outfit.

Going once, going twice...

We dropped by Neighborhood again in the evening before we left town for a short break over the new year. It was sort of a last minute/spur of the moment thing so we just walked in without a booking and took the only seats available at the bar area.
